Is He Risen/He Is Risen Letterpress Print

$35.00

Imagine the morning of Easter. Being there. So much going on. Chaos. Excitement. Doubt. Confusion. “Is He Risen?” is about feeling the emotions of that morning.

Created by a 1953 Letterpress, this Print was designed to help us go back to that morning. To feel how so many others did…even some of Jesus’ own disciples. Can we have faith and doubt at the same time? Can we believe something we never saw happen?

I love letterpress, and honestly, every little thing about it. The pace in which it takes to create one piece is slow, but the result leaves me speechless and excited every time.

Letterpress printing is a relief printing process, initially utilized by raised metal type and engravings to imprint words and designs on paper.

During its inception in the 1400s, letters were composed one by one. Yes, one letter at a time by hand with composing sticks to form sentences. This art form redefined the way we could circulate news and books, at a much quicker pace than calligraphy or hand carving words on wood to ink in order to make an impression.

Why letterpress? How does this art medium become relevant to anything?

The first Gutenberg English Bible was printed in 1455, allowing the printed word to reach the common people. Praise God that it did!!
